WHY IS THIS SO
COOL ?

ARTISTIC MEDIUM

We will approach robots as a genuine creative medium. For starter workshops, no knowledge of electronics or mechanics is required, but in the process you will learn a lot about these things.

TACTILE

You will do most of the work with your hands, because robots are very physical. In this age of digital media where most creative experiences are on a display in pixels, this tactile experience can be very refreshing.

TEAM BUILDING

Working on a robot, as an individual or as a team, can bring a lot of inspiration, even when your company has nothing to do with robotics. Building multiple robots in teams can add a competitive element to the event. Spending a day in a robot studio, surounded by new technology like 3D printers and lasercutters, can be a nice break from the office.

SCHOOLS

Robots parts and tools can be a heavy investment for a school. The robot classes can just as well be organised inside your school, or on location. It will fit perfectly in your STEM, and especially STEAM, classes for your students.

SUPPORT THE ROBOTS

Finally, with this project we will be able to fund more robot projects, and further develop robots as a creative medium

HOW MUCH WILL THIS
COST ?

With this list you can get an idea of the cost involved in organising a robot class.

Trainers

This part is obviously not optional. A trainer will ideally handle around 10 people, with a maximum of 15. You can have multiple trainers in your class. A specialist robot-trainer starts at 800 euro for a whole day, 500 euro for half a day. Workshops can be in Dutch and English. French is possible with a translator.

Parts

In a workshop where all participants take the robots back home to take care of them, there is a minumum cost of 50 euro per person. Simpler workshops are possible with disposable materials.

Tools

Simple hand tools are provided during the workshop. We can also bring more advanced equipment like 3D-printers and lasercutters. It is even possible to bring an entire mobile fablab.

Location

A robot class can be held in any place where every participant has some workspace. Access to a window or active ventilation is required when we bring a lasercutter, or when we have to work with paint. You can provide this location. If needed, we can also find a space for you.

Catering

This is not really our core business :) But if you want a complete event with some drinks and snacks or even a BBQ, that is obviously no problem.

Special Guest

To make the Robot-immersion complete, we can bring a Robot-star to the event provided by SO Robots.

WE ARE ALL BORN ROBOTMAKERS

In the last days of the schoolyear, we went to a primary school in Antwerp, to show 25 kids the awesomeness of robots.

On November 15th 2013 we built these rigs with the final year Devine students from Howest school in Kortrijk, Belgium.

During the OHM2013 Festival we gave an important challenge to 20 children, ages between 4 and 7. The Future of Robotics looks Fluffy and Cheerful.

SHADOW & LIGHT @ TEDx

As a part of the TEDx Flanders event, Introspection, we created this interactive light painting installation.

SUMMER SCHOOL 2015 IN KORTRIJK

In August we made Robots with Character at the Howest Summer School.

BARCELONA OFFF 2015

During the 15th anniversary edition of OFFF in Barcelona, we build 10 awesome Robots.

QATAR TASMEEM 3AJEEB! 2015

In the spring of 2015, we made some awesome robots at VCU Qatar, with fashion, interior design and graphic design students.

TOEKOMST ATELIER DE L'AVENIR

Early 2014 we did a couple of classes about Robot's and the Fablab with 50 kids of this project.

MAKELAB DESIGNCENTER WINKELHAAK ANTWERPEN

We introduced about 20 people to the virbating robots, and laser cutting technology.

MAKE-A-THON

On October 12 and 13 I am judging and coaching the VRT Make-A-Thon in TimeLab Ghent.

* No Engineers allowed, unless you are going to be cool about dysfunctional, furry, dressed-up, bad-ass, psychotic, paranoid machines with eye-balls. Then you are of course welcome.
